Student Tardies:
We will be logging all student tardies in Class Dojo beginning Monday, January 22nd. Tardy is considered arriving AFTER 7:45 am. Please ensure you are using the carline to drop off your student before 7:30 am to support us with safety measures in our parking lot. When students are tardy to school they are a great deal of things such as breakfast, social emotional learning morning meeting, and their foundational skills in Language Arts and Math.
Car Tags Visibility:
In order to ensure a smoother entry of numbers at dismissal, we are asking that you please ensure that your car tag is VISIBLE on your mirror or dashboard. Additionally, if you do not have a car tag, please call the front office or stop by the front office so that you can be provided with a replacement. If you do not have a car tag and you are in the car line, you will be asked to park and wait for dismissal to be over to pick up your student.
Common Assessment #2: Math
On Tuesday, February 30th our students (3rd - 4th) will be taking their Common Assessment, this test mocks the STAAR test. We will NOT have early pick-ups for ANY student in ANY grade level until testing is over at 12:30 pm, please plan accordingly.
Attendance:
Daily attendance is important to students’ academic success. When a student is present at school daily, their grades and reading levels improve. Daily attendance also helps students create healthy life habits and develop social skills.
Everyday between 7:45 am and 8:30 am, you will be receiving a phone call or Class Dojo message if your child has not arrived to school. We have an attendance team dedicated to reaching out to families to know if students will be coming on a given day or what time students will be arriving. We are focusing on documentation this semester before moving forward with other decisions regarding your student’s enrollment once they have hit 10+ absences for the semester. As always, if your student is out, please provide an excuse note to the front office team within 5 school days. If your child will be absent on any day, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the following OPS representative to notify them, that way we can document the absence reasons in Skyward.

  • Barbie Alvarez: Pre-K and 2nd Grade
  • Jasmine Castillo: Kindergarten and 3rd Grade
  • Ana Martinez: 1st Grade and 4th Grade

Attendance Incentives
Students with 100% Perfect Attendance every week, will get to shop at the Attendance Cart the following week. Students present at school, all day, and on time, from January 29th through March 7th will be entered in a raffle to win a Nintendo Switch light! Here are the rules:

  • Students must be present daily - all day and until spring break.
  • Students must arrive to school on time. We will reference our Tardy reports on Class Dojo daily. If a student appears on the Tardy report, they will not be able to participate. We will start noting tardies at 7:50 am.
  • Students cannot be picked up early, unless they have a scheduled doctor appointment or Nurse Rhea sends the student home. Proof of appointment must be provided for daily pick-ups. Nurse Rhea will notify the front office of which students she is sending home.

Updated Immunization Records:
Please submit an updated copy of your child's immunization records to the school nurse. Additionally, please ensure your student always has extra clothes in their backpacks in the case of any accident.
