• Family Notes

Dear NFE Families,

At YES Prep Public Schools, the safety and wellbeing of our students is a top priority we
take seriously. As we settle into the school year, we would like to take this time to remind you of the safety measures that we take daily to ensure that students and staff are able to focus on learning. We follow daily safety protocols ensuring all exterior and interior doors are locked in compliance with state policy. Our campus has a police officer present daily that monitors the interior and exterior of the building throughout the day. We have a Safety and Security Manager who directly supports our campus and is readily available to support us with any safety concerns. At YES Prep, providing a safe learning environment is our top priority. We are committed to taking all necessary measures to prevent future incidents and ensure the well-being of our students. Thank you for trusting us with your students.

NFE Leadership Team

Uniform Policy for the 2024-2025 school year

At YES Prep, we continue to see the benefits of students wearing YES Prep uniforms and apparel, including a sense of school pride, improved safety and more convenience for families. For this reason, we will continue the standard uniform policy for the 2024-2025 school year. Students must wear a YES Prep-branded polo or spirit shirt five days a week, with the option to wear a school-chosen variation like a college shirt on Fridays.

Students may choose between pants, skirts, or shorts of the following:

  • Khakis (any color)
  • Navy
  • Jeans (any color)

Students should wear bottoms that allow them to comfortably participate in recess and PE. Students may not wear pajama pants or bottoms with holes.

Shorts and skirts should be no shorter than mid-thigh.

Bottoms may not have holes/tears below the knee/with leggings underneath.

Students are not required to wear belts.

Tennis shoes are recommended so students can safely participate in activities at recess and in PE.

For safety purposes, all shoes must meet the following criteria:

  • Closed-toed
  • Must have backs (i.e. no slides)
  • Must have hard soles (i.e. no slippers)
  • Any color is permitted
  • No shoes with heels over .5 inches
  • Crocs are not allowed.

Students may wear only YES Prep branded outerwear. Students may also have the option of purchasing the following from YES Prep or Athletic Departments to build school-pride and community: Students may choose from the following:

  • YES Prep crewneck (purchased through YES Prep)
  • YES Prep Hoodie (purchased through YES Prep)
  • YES Prep Quarter Zip Jacket (purchased through YES Prep)
  • Campus-issued grade level or spirit sweatshirts etc. (purchased through campus as applicable)

As we receive more inventory, we will update families so that they can purchase. The expectation is that once inventory arrives, the goal is by the start of Quarter 2 - October 15th, all students must only wear YES Prep branded uniforms and outerwear. For uniform assistance, please reach out to our Student Support Counselor at janese.olonade@yesprep.org.

Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival and Breakfast:

The gate for arrival closes at 7:35 am daily. All parents arriving before 7:35 am are expected to drive through the car line to drop-off their students. There should be no parking in the parking lot to walk students to the front office. Parents that arrive past 7:35 am to the gate will have to park and walk their student into the front office lobby and sign them in. For safety reasons, please ensure that you are walking your late student inside the building, as there is no traffic control after 7:35 am. Please also keep in mind that breakfast is only served from 7:00 am - 7:40 am. The last opportunity for students to grab breakfast is at 7:40 am.

Dismissal:

All students not picked up during the 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm dismissal time will be considered late pick-up. Late pick-up will begin at 3:45 pm in the front office area. Please ensure that you have your ID or car tag to receive your student. Additionally, for safety and security reasons, any secondary siblings should have the car tag to pick up their sibling(s) and are asked to pick up their sibling(s) in the front office between 4:00 pm - 4:05 pm, following their dismissal time, they will not be allowed to wait in the lobby area.

Walkers:

Parents that have been approved should not be parking in the school parking lot or blocking the emergency gate to pick up their student. There have been multiple reports of families parking in the school parking lot and emergency gate area to pick up their student from the walker area. Students will be removed as walkers if you are seen driving to the campus, parking, and exiting your vehicle to pick-up your student from the walker area. To reiterate, no one should be parking blocking the emergency gate (middle exterior gate) at arrival or dismissal, this is a safety violation and you are subject to being towed.

Transportation: Buses

Any student who attempts to board the bus, but is not on the roster, will still be transported to school. However, they will not be allowed to ride the bus home for the PM.

Please see the most updated bus routes effective Monday, September 16th.

For any questions regarding routes or eligibility, please reach out to transportation@yesprep.org
